What are the documents required for ATPL application

The following documents are required for an ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence) application as per the DGCA Online Examination Portal User Manual:

 

Mandatory Documents for ATPL Application

  1. Photograph: Recent color photograph (45mm x 35mm, white background, face size 70% of photo, JPG/JPEG, max 70 KB).
  2. Signature: Scanned signature (20mm x 45mm, white background, JPG/JPEG, max 20 KB).
  3. Proof of Date of Birth:
    • 10th Standard Certificate & Mark sheet from a recognized board, or
    1. Birth certificate issued by a municipal authority (bilingual if in regional language).
  4. Educational Qualification:
    1. 10th Standard Certificate & Mark List
    2. 10+2 (12th Standard) Mark List & Pass Certificate showing pass in Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board/university.
    3. Board Verification Certificate (BVC) for both 10th and 12th standard certificates/mark lists.
    4. If qualification is from a foreign board/university, an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is required, along with the verification certificate from the foreign university.
  5. Proof of Address (any one, self-attested):
    1. Aadhaar Card
    2. Passport
    3. Voter ID
    4. DGCA-issued license
    5. Ration Card
    6. Address proof issued by State/Central Government
  6. Proof of Identification (any one, self-attested):
    1. SPL, FRTOL, PPL, CPL issued by DGCA
    2. Passport
    3. Airport entry card (BCAS)
    4. UID/Aadhaar
    5. Voter ID
    6. Defence Identity Card (for Defence Personnel)
    7. Dependent Card issued by Defence Organization
    8. Ration Card (if photo included)
    9. Central/State Govt. health card (with photo)
    10. Passport (for foreign nationals)
  7. Proof of Indian CPL:
    1. Copy of valid Indian Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
    2. For Defence Personnel: Instead of CPL, evidence of at least 500 hours of flying experience (200 hours as Pilot-in-Command), including a flying summary certificate and relevant logbook pages certified by the competent authority.
  8. Technical Paper (if applicable):
    1. If applying for technical papers for aircraft over 5700 kg MTOW or twin-engine helicopters:
      1. Certificate of successful completion of ground training classes on technical/performance specifics from a DGCA-approved training institute.
      2. Proof of the institute’s DGCA approval.
  9. Security Clearance (if applicable):
    1. Required for foreign nationals, OCI, or PIO status holders.
    2. Prescribed format (Annexure A) and supporting documents as specified.

Additional Notes

  • All documents must be uploaded as per the specified file size and format requirements (see Document Size Table in the manual).
  • Ensure all uploaded documents are legible to avoid rejection.
  • No physical document submission or attestation by a notary/gazetted officer is required; all uploads are digital.
  • Candidates with foreign qualifications must provide equivalence and verification certificates as described above.
